Supporting Kalinago Writers and Journalists
We are thrilled to launch the Kalinago News Journalism Project, made possible through generous funding from the Robinson Trust. This initiative is dedicated to nurturing Kalinago voices in journalism by providing selected individuals with the opportunity to study News Journalism through a part-time distance learning course with the London School of Journalism. The course, which runs for approximately 12 months, equips participants with essential skills in news writing, reporting, and media ethics.
Our first cohort of students includes Maureen Valmond, Ferdison Valmond, Jenny Riscia Ellick, and Vincia Massala Casey. Alongside personalized one-to-one tuition, they may also benefit from guidance and coaching from Paul Crask, a travel journalist and former director of Kibe’kuati.
Through this project, we aim to empower Kalinago storytellers, amplifying their voices in the world of journalism. Stay tuned for updates on their journey!
