Addressing Gender Based Violence in the Kalinago Territory

This project comprises of an awareness campaign including the installation of a memorial plaque in remembrance of eight (8) indigenous sisters were murdered through intimate partner violence. The campaign include a March from the Kalinago Council office to Mr. Willards Shop on November 25th 2023. There was a public speaking competition among the Atkinson and Sineku School Primary School students. The second component of the project provides women and youth an opportunity to do Math, English, Accounts, Principles of Business, at Caribbean Examinations Level (CXC). Some women will do pastry Making and Sewing to ensure entrepreneurship opportunity.

This project is funded by the Canada Fund For Local Initiative with partners such as the Kalinago Council and the Bureau of Gender Affairs.

  • Creating a Saftey Plan for victims of Domestic Violence
  • Resources for Survivors of Domestic Violence in Dominica
